My mother was raised in Falticeni, Suceava County, Romania, by her wonderful parents, Maria and Constantin Holban. They would do anything for their only child. She had a best friend in "Tanti Pepi," who lived across the street. They spent their childhood together. She met her husband, Dumitru, at Nicu Gane High School and went on to different universities in the same town. She chose her beloved career in dentistry and went on to study at the University of Iaşi. In Iaşi, their relationship grew, and they decided to get married. After finishing university, they returned to the city where they met, Fǎlticeni, where they decided to raise a family. Tudor was born in 1974. She and Dumitru did their best for those around them throughout their lives. She always helped those around her in need, both back home and here. After living in Romania for 40 years and having a successful career in dentistry, she and Dumitru came to Canada to make a better life for their family, studied hard to learn a new language and restarted her career. It was a big change for all of us, a bit of a step across the Ocean, as my parents used to say, but they did it, with hardship and happy moments at the same time. She bought and grew a dental practice, being loved by her patients, mainly from the Portuguese community due to the area, but welcoming everyone. She was known for not charging for anything extra not covered by insurance, and her patients loved her for that. During her retirement, she came closer to her son's family in St Catharines to be closer to all of us. Our family greatly misses her and still does not understand what happened.
