It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Yuk Yin Chan, who passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Scarborough General Hospital on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on October 6, 1937 in Taishan, Guangdong, China, Yuk Yin later moved to Hong Kong where she worked as a primary school and English teacher before immigrating to Quebec City, Canada in 1960 to marry her beloved husband, Wai Nau Chan. In their retirement years, they relocated to Toronto to be closer to family, where they cherished friendships and outings at Yee Hong Garden Terrace. Wai Nau, our dad passed away in 2015. They were together for 55 years.

Yuk Yin will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children Lana (Derek Smith), Helen (David Mar), Noel (Selene), and Sandra (Christopher Heberlig); her cherished grandchildren Caitlyn, Alex, Samantha, Kelsey, Nicholas, Sarah, and Ryan; her beloved great-grandchildren Caleb and Keegan; and her extended family and friends, especially her nieces and nephew.
