On August 18, 2025, Young Jin Choi passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kun Sook, daughters Honey (Martin) and Sou and beloved grandson Alexandre.
Young immigrated from South Korea to Canada with his wife 50 years ago following his service in the Korean Military. He was a proud business owner and poured his heart and energy into providing for his family while making many friends along the way. Young was an avid golfer and could be found on countless courses on his days off and throughout his retirement. He loved his home in Scarborough, especially his backyard as he doted on his rose bushes, vegetables and plants while practicing his swing and chipping techniques. His love of fashion was always evident with his shoe collection and ability to put an army shine on every toe tip.
Young was so courageous after his diagnosis with cancer over 5 years ago and the family is blessed to have been along his side. Young’s last step of his journey was spent with the most wonderful team at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit watching PGA golf and countless Elvis, Beatles and Elton John concerts.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. Memorial Donations may be made in Young’s honour to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation, Palliative Care Centre.

최영진 씨는 50년 전 한국 군 복무를 마치고 아내와 함께 한국에서 캐나다로 이민을 왔습니다. 그는 자랑스러운 사업가였으며, 가족을 부양하는 데 온 정성을 쏟았고, 그 과정에서 많은 친구를 사귀었습니다. 그는 열렬한 골프 애호가였으며, 쉬는 날과 은퇴 후에도 수많은 골프장에서 그를 볼 수 있었습니다. 그는 스카버러에 있는 집, 특히 뒷마당을 사랑했고, 장미 덤불과 채소들을 사랑하며 스윙과 치핑 기술을 연습했습니다. 패션에 대한 그의 사랑은 신발 컬렉션과 발끝마다 군인의 모습을 드러내는 능력에서 항상 드러났습니다.
5년 전 암 진단을 받은 후에도 영 씨는 용감했으며, 그의 가족은 그의 곁을 지켜준 것에 감사하고 있습니다. 영의 마지막 여정은 세인트 조셉 건강 센터(St. Joseph’s Health Centre) 완화의료센터에서 최고의 팀과 함께 PGA 골프와 엘비스, 비틀즈, 엘튼 존의 수많은 콘서트를 관람하며 보냈습니다.
2025년 8월 27일 수요일, 마운트 플레전트 장례식장에서 오전 9시부터 11시까지 조문이 진행되며, 이후 정오까지 기도 예배가 진행됩니다. 영을 기리는 추모 기부금은 세인트 조셉 건강 센터 재단(St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation) 완화의료센터에 기부하실 수 있습니다.
