李劉英如Ying Yue Betty Lee
September 26, 1934 - August 7, 2013
It is with great sorrow that Lee Lee and family announce the passing of Betty (Ying Yue) Lee, owner of the Savoy Cafe in Kenora, Ontario.
Betty was born in a small village in Canton, China. She moved to Canada in 1959 to find a better life. Stopping in Toronto, Elliot Lake, and then finally her beloved Lake of the Woods, Kenora was the place she raised her young family. The friendly people of Kenora and small close knit Asian community is where she would call home for 40+ years.
Yearning to help raise their grandkids, Betty and Lee left Kenora upon retirement, always promising to come back and visit the cottage in Sioux Narrows.
Betty put up a heroic fight against cancer, finally slipping away on August 7, 2013 in Toronto.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Lee Lee, son Peter, grandchildren Christopher and Tylin, daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Stephen, grandchildren Jessica and Matthew, and son Gary.
The Lee family would like to thank the great people of Kenora and Lake of the Woods for making her feel like she was always at home, and their family and friends for all their support.
