<div itemprop="description">Dr. Yachiyo Yoneyama (Nakamura) <br />March 23, 1917 &ndash; August 12, 2013 <br /> <br />Dr. Yachiyo Yoneyama (Nakamura) passed away August 12, 2013 in her 96th year at the Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital with her sister Mitsue and family by her side. She is survived by her sister Dr. Mitsue Kobayashi (Allan); brother Harold Yoneyama (Pat); nieces and nephew Fay and Tom Kobayashi (Margaret); Dr. Joan Fujiwara-Foster (Jerry); Linda Biasatti (Rich); and Dr. Norma Yoneyama-Sergejewich (Pete); grand-nieces and nephews Samantha, Kimiko, Kiyomi, Lauren, Marcus, Matthew and Andrew. <br /> <br />She was predeceased by husband William; sister Dr. Misao Yoneyama (Wesley); and her parents Rikizo and Yone Yoneyama. <br /> <br />In 1943, Yachiyo became the first woman dentist to be graduated from the University of Alberta. After graduation she furthered her studies on a Guggenheim Fellowship in New York. <br /> <br />She practiced children&rsquo;s dentistry in Toronto during her working career. <br /> <br />Yachiyo will be remembered for her consummate professionalism, love for children and artistic talent. <br />Grateful thanks are expressed to the Amica at Erin Mills Retirement Home second floor staff and administration, and to the doctors and nursing staff at the Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga Hospital for their outstanding care and concern. <br /> <br />Donations in Yachiyo&rsquo;s memory may be made to theTrillium Health Centre Foundation at www.trilliumgiving.ca or by clicking on the donations link below.
