The family of William Owen Sydney Ballard is deeply saddened to announce his passing on the morning of Friday, March 14, 2014.
Bill was the proud son of Harold and Dorothy Ballard; beloved husband of Renee and adored father of Maryke. He was brother to Mary Elizabeth Flynn and Harold, uncle to Katie, Matthew (Raili), Megan (Felix), William, Samantha, Anne, Joost, Alicia and Tyrone. Bill was brother-in-law of Johan (Rudi), Jacob (Claudia) and Alice.
Bill was a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall. Bill and Michael Cohl founded Concert Productions International in 1974, which grew to become the pre-eminent concert company in the world. As president of Orion Capital, Bill was a founding investor in companies including FNX Mining, Gold Eagle Mines, Queenston Mining/Osisko Mines and Canada Lithium.
Bill will be remembered for his warmth, kindness and generous spirit.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Visitation
Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Georgian Bay Forever (georgianbayforever.org) or the hospitals below. (Links to charities provided on the Make a Donation button below.)
