WWII Canadian Merchant Marine Veteran~
Beloved father, passed away peacefully at home Sept. 29, 2013 in his 94th year. Len, a Chief Radio Officer during WWII, met “a pretty nurse” on a blind date in Melbourne, Australia in 1944. He and Jonnie (d. May 2009), his “miracle” for 65+ years, married in Wellington, NZ on February 9, 1946. Len will be lovingly remembered by daughter Joanne, sons Terry (Wendi), Frank (Christine), Ed, and Robert, and grandchildren Lindsey, Jennifer, Kyle, Kari, and Sean, and Len’s sister Betty and Terry’s mother-in-law Val. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation Friday October 4th from 3 6 p.m. at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE (275 Lesmill Road, Toronto, S of 401, E of Leslie, 416-441-1580). Funeral Mass at BLESSED JOHN XXIII Roman Catholic Church (150 Gateway Boulevard) in Don Mills on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Canadian Hunger Fdtn, Covenant House, Scott Mission or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.etouch.ca .
