William Fahn passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital in the morning hours of January 28/2026. He left behind his loving wife, Amy; his two sons Eric (Violet) and Patrick; and grandsons Darryl (Jackie) and Andrew (Ashley) along with great-grandchildren Gabriel, Khloe, Leah and Mason.

William was a draftsman by trade but his main gift and talent was the amazing skills that he possessed in Chinese calligraphy. He held his first individual exhibition in his native Hong Kong in the winter of 1978. He later established himself as a notable artist in the Toronto Chinese community after he emigrated there. For many years, he was a Chinese calligraphy instructor at the Toronto Chinese Cultural Centre (TCCC) and his students were among the best in town.

After William retired from teaching at the TCCC ten years ago, he continued to conduct research and master his craft until his final days. His desire to be the best in his field was more than commendable.

William's proudest moment was probably when he was hired by the Chinese government to demonstrate his calligraphy skills at their exhibition "China: 7000 Years of Discovery" at the Ontario Science Centre in 1982.
