ZESSNER, Walter – Walter died after a brief illness on December 13, 2012 in Toronto and will be greatly missed by his wife Gertrud, son Michael, daughter-in-law Deborah Maw, and grandchildren Sarah, Laura, Robert and Emily. Born on July 10, 1924 in Hamburg, Germany, Walter was a long-time employee of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and George Brown College. He apprenticed as an electrician and thrived in the post- World War Two electronics revolution. His love of learning resulted in B.A. and M.Ed degrees from the University of Toronto . Walter believed that the unexamined life was not worth living, and always hoped that the “golden mean” could be achieved through the interplay of life’s conflicting demands. He was especially interested in reconciling the conflict between technology and the humanities and, to this end, spent many years as an active participant in the Society on Social Implications of Technology (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). If desired, donations may be made to "Science for Peace" at their website "www.scienceforpeace.ca/donate" . A celebration of life for family and friends will take place in the near future. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at East General Hospital for all their help. Condolences and memories may be forwarded to www.etouch.ca

"No regrets"
