STANOWSKI, WALTER PETER
After a brief illness in Toronto, Sun. June 28 at the age of 96. Predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Joyce(duBrule) and his son-in-law Ralph Foster. Survived by his children Skip (Marg), Adair Foster, Adrian (Ken Rysdale), Craig (Theresa O'Connor), grandchildren Scott (Michelle) and Shannon Foster, Kyle and Bronwyn, great grandchildren Lucas and Logan. Born in Winnipeg and after winning the Memorial Cup with the St. Boniface Seals, Wally and Joyce moved to Toronto where he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs. After a successful career with the Leafs and the Rangers he worked selling construction equipment for Allat and Sheridan Equipment. Retirement years were spent travelling to Mazatlan, Mexico and Lac Seul, Ont. to pursue his passion of fishing and the outdoors. A superb recycler, Wally was always tinkering in his workshop using everyday materials to repair or re-invent household items in Rube Goldberg style. Dad, we will remember your easy-going nature, your wisecracks, love of the Blue Jays and CFL and barbecuing in a plaid shirt, a hat, with a beer and pipe in hand. Many thanks to Elim Springs Retirement Home and dentist Dr. John Kovalcik for their friendship and outstanding assistance with our Dad. Donations gratefully accepted at Trillium Hospital.
