Sedivy, Veronica Januray 6,1923- October 30, 2013. Peacefully at home in her 91st year. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Veronica will be missed by her children Nina Horvath-Sawka (Roman Sawka), John Sedivy (Alison Delong), Sonia Sedivy (Andre Schmid) and her daughter-in-law Luba Horvath. To her great sorrow, Veronica was predeceased by her son Steven Horvath. She was also predeceased by her husbands Stefan Horvath and Anton Sedivy, and her cherished sisters Katka Margotsy and Elenka Krupickova. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Catherine Horvath (Martin Cloake), Nina Horvath, Alexandra Sawka, Mishka Sawka (Henryk Krajewski), Max Sawka, Emma Sedivy, Veronica Sedivy and Nicky Schmid. A proud great grandmother to Beatrice and Julian Cloake, Veronica was also an adored aunt to an extended family in Australia, Italy, Germany and Slovakia; and a true friend to many in her home countries of Czechoslovakia and Canada.
Veronica will be remembered for many things including her kindness, her sense of humour, her love and dedication to family and her commitment to education. A professor of musicology, lover of music, passionate reader and writer, Veronica shared and passed along her commitment to a life of the mind to all who knew her. Above all, she gave everyone around her an example of how to love. We are so happy to have had Veronica in our lives for so long, a feeling that is sure to last forever.
We want to give thanks from the bottom of our hearts to her caregivers, Taffy Fasano, Ruth Thompson, and Diosalina T. Beasca.
Funeral service will be at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre – 375 Mount Pleasant Road, East Gate Entrance at 11:00 am in the Chapel on Sunday November 3rd, with Visitation starting at 10:00 am. Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day.
