Vera Storoniak
March 25, 1933 - January 27, 2016
Storoniak, Vera Lidia (nee Rohozynsky)
Passed away on January 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 82. Beloved wife and best friend to the late Andrew. Devoted mother to Ross (Dawn), Alexa, Liana Pelham (Greg) and Vanessa (Liz). She will sadly be missed by her 'three wise men’, grandsons Jack and Jordan Pelham and Rain Storoniak, her sister Sonia Walker (Ted), nephews Bradley (Stacey) and Jonathan (Sharon) and brother-in-law Edward (Judy) and their families.
Vera was born March 25, 1933 to Nicholas and Olga Rohozynsky in Sudbury, Ontario where she attended elementary and secondary schools. Later, she studied languages, specializing in French, at the University of Toronto. Upon graduation from the Ontario College of Education she returned to Sudbury to teach for five years and settled in North York where she taught at William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate, York Mills Collegiate and later Jane Junior High School and Elia Middle School.
Music played an important role in Vera's life. Possessing a lovely alto voice she sang in many choirs in the Ukrainian community, as well as the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and most recently the SOS (Seniors Over Sixty) Choir in Toronto.
A special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses in the Palliative Care Centre and the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital especially Dr. Danny Enepekides and his team.
A private family funeral and cremation was held on Wednesday February 3, 2016 in Toronto.
Forever in our hearts
