My dear mom took her last breath on the morning of Tuesday, August 4th. She passed away very peacefully and tenderly. I was by her side.

She was a cherished loving and dedicated mother, wife, sister, daughter, Masi, Bua, Mami, aunt, friend …and her most cherished role, Nani (grandmother) to her beloved Akshay and Rocky.

She had a quiet confidence, grace and elegance about her that people always commented on. She was a doctor, completing her degree from India. After immigrating to Canada in the early 70’s, she completed her exams and qualifications in Canada and the USA. For various reasons, she did not fully pursue her medical career, but worked in the field for many years. She took some time off to focus on family and then transitioned to the corporate world of taxes. Studying again and becoming a Senior Tax Analyst on Bay Street. She was astute. She took life as it came. Navigated tumultuous times personally and for the family, always with grace and without a complaint.

She cared for my Dad with such dedication in their whole marriage, but especially in his final months. She moved to BC in 2014 to be by Akshay and I, as we navigated our own lives. There was so much love, comfort and playfulness at home and the on our many travels and adventures.

Mom’s health had been steadily declining for a couple of years. It was her desire and strong will that we took the beautiful cross country trip from Vancouver to Toronto. I look back now and realize she did it for us. She brought us home. Akshay and I have been surrounded by so much love and support by ‘our village’ these past few weeks. There have been so many special moments, so many new special memories created with her. Lots of stories, laughs and tears.

I feel I have so much more to share and say …in time.

We have deep love in our hearts and gratitude for the impact she’s made in all of our lives. May her soul continue its divine journey as she joins my dear father. Please say a prayer of love and gratitude in your own hearts for her soul.
