It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the peaceful passing of our dearest Mom, Valerie Petsche, predeceased by her beloved husband Alois Petsche, Mother & Father, and survived by her three children, Richard (Sharon), Nadine (Anthony) and Eric (Marta), and her eight dearly loved grandchildren, Jonathan Petsche, Marissa Lustri, Natalie Lustri, Mark-Anthony Lustri, Diana Lustri, Xavier Petsche, Conrad Petsche, and Lauren Petsche.
Born December 19, 1933 in Rēzekne, Latvia, she grew up in harrowing times, experiencing firsthand the hardships brought on by the Second World War. As a young woman she enjoyed outdoor activities and was an avid reader. She immigrated to Canada with her parents (Jazeps Klincans and Albertina (Barbans) and her siblings, and eventually met her soul mate and partner in life, Alois Petsche.
She spent many years as a loving stay-at-home Mother, creating a home filled with creativity, encouragement, and unconditional support. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her whole heart into raising them with patience, independence, and joy.
As her children grew, Valerie embraced a new chapter with courage and determination, attending College to pursue an education in early childhood development. She earned a certificate as an Early Child Educator and began working in a Montessori school, a role that reflected her giving nature and gift for nurturing young minds.
Throughout her life she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life alongside her husband and family, including reading, gardening, family camping trips and exotic retreats with her husband. She taught her children many valuable life lessons and the deep meaning of respect, service, dignity, and family, and instilled those same traits in her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for the joy and pride she showed when hearing about their accomplishments, and for her endearing and gracious smile.
She will be profoundly missed and will remain in our hearts and memories forever. We would like to thank everyone for their wishes of condolences and prayers at this difficult time.
We will miss you Mom (Oma)—your voice, your laughter, and your steady presence that made everything feel safe. Rest in peace until we meet again.
Your loving family,
Richard, Sharon, Jonathan, Nadine, Anthony, Marissa, Natalie, Mark-Anthony, Diana, Eric, Marta, Xavier, Conrad and Lauren
