江曾金妹夫人Ching Mei "Yuki" Tseng (Chiang)
December 12, 1936 - February 5, 2016
Ching Mei Chiang (maiden name Tseng), a long time resident of Toronto died on February 5, 2016 at St. Michael's hospital in Toronto, Canada.
Born in Chung Li, Taiwan on December 12, 1936, Ching Mei was a middle school accounting teacher in Chung Li for several years before deciding to go to Tokyo, Japan to further her education. In 1968, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Commerce from Waseda University. She married Taiwanese foreign student Cheng San Chiang in Tokyo soon after her graduation. The two of them immigrated to Canada when her husband landed a scholarship to study his Master's degree at the University of Ottawa.
The couple soon had a child, George, in 1969 while in Ottawa. After completing his studies they moved to Toronto where they had a second child, James in 1972. Ching Mei raised the children and eventually worked in the credit department at the Eaton's headquarters above the Eaton's Centre in Toronto for many years until her retirement in 1994.
A speaker of 5 languages (Hakka, Mandarin, Japanese, Taiwanese and English) was known for her charm and sense of humour. Upon retirement, Ching Mei travelled the world for many years. She also became an avid swimmer and was an active member of the Japanese Seniors Karaoke group, the Taiwanese United Church and the Taiwanese Canadian Association until her death.
Ching Mei died peacefully in the presence of her two sons and daughter-in law. Ching Mei is survived by two sons and 4 grandchildren. Her son George lives in Stouffville, Ontario with his wife and two children (1 boy and 1 girl). Her son James lives in Calgary with his wife and two daughters.
