It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Trevor Godfrey Birkbeck — "Trev" — who passed away peacefully in Port Perry, Ontario on June 21, 2026, at the age of 92 following a courageous battle with dementia.

Trevor was born on October 25, 1933, in Welwyn, Saskatchewan, to Noraleen and Alfred Birkbeck. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Larry Birkbeck (Deb), his sister Shirley Smith, and his grandchild Nicole Birkbeck (Pierre and Roula).

Trevor lived a life of remarkable service and dedication. He began his career as a teacher before joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where he served with distinction for 33 years. He went on to serve a further 3 years with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), rounding out a lifelong career devoted to protecting others through teaching, policing, intelligence work, and security.

Away from his career, Trevor was a passionate and accomplished curler, earning recognition as a champion on the ice. He also had a lifelong love of Corvettes, and those who knew him will remember his enthusiasm for both his sport and his cars.

Trevor will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeannette Birkbeck; his children, Pierre Birkbeck (Roula), Michel Birkbeck (Selena), Debbie Collins, and Charlene Birkbeck (Josh); and his grandchildren, Christopher Birkbeck (Pierre and Roula), Brendan Birkbeck (Pierre and Roula), Jason Collins (Debbie), Jennafer Hercules (Debbie), and Harrison Szczepanowski (Charlene).

A native of Welwyn, Saskatchewan, Trevor Birkbeck joined the RCMP on April 21, 1955. Following recruit training at "N" Division, Rockcliffe, Ontario, he served in multiple locations across Canada including New Brunswick, where postings included Campbellton Detachment in the early 1960s. He was later posted to southwestern Ontario. He was serving at the rank of Sergeant when he transitioned into the Canadian Security Intelligence Service in July 1984. He retired from the Service on August 3, 1988.
Cremation has taken place. His ashes will be inurned at RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa at a later date. A celebration of life will take place August 14th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Thornton Cemetery.
