It is with heavy hearts that the family of Tony Wing Chan announces his peaceful passing on the morning of October 25, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of his wife and sons.

Born in Hong Kong, Tony was the sixth of thirteen children. He immigrated to Canada in 1958, just one month before his ninth birthday.

A graduate of the University of Toronto with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Tony later found his true calling in education. He worked as a teacher and guidance counsellor with the Toronto District School Board before retiring early to become a devoted full-time father.

Tony was a proud Canadian and a loving, dedicated husband, father, brother, and uncle to his nieces and nephews.

He had a deep appreciation for music from the 1960s and 1970s, a love of history, and a childhood hobby for collecting baseball cards, hockey cards, and comic books. He is remembered by family and friends for his wit and quick humour. He especially cherished family time at the cottage and planning “Chan Clan” family vacations.

Tony will be forever remembered with love by his wife Yvonne of 27 years, sons Bradley (25) and Zachary (24), his sisters, extended family, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tony’s honour to Trillium Health Partners – Credit Valley Hospital.

To honour Tony’s spirit and sense of humour, family and guests are invited to wear a Hawaiian shirt or something tropical to the reception following the service—as Tony told us, “I’m going to Hawaii.”
