The Vetter family is saddened by their loss of Tannis, who passed away peacefully on July 25. Beloved wife to Stephen for almost 38 wonderful years, and proud mother to Ashton and Jordan. Tannis will also be dearly missed by her parents Wilmer and Dorothy Fast, Stephen’s father and his spouse, her and Stephen’s siblings and their spouses, her nieces and nephews, and her many dear friends.

Born and raised in Steinbach MB, Tannis had a passion for music and education, earning degrees and credentials to teach at all levels of the educational system. An active member of her local music communities, she loved working with people as a private teacher, choir director, music festival adjudicator, and volunteer with NATS and other professional organizations. She was also an enthusiastic advocate for new Canadian music. No matter where she worked, she shone at getting people to develop their potential.

Tannis’ commitment to helping others continued with her work at the Aphasia Institute as a volunteer workshop leader and Quality of Research and Ethics committee representative.

Tannis was sociable, personable, and always made everyone welcome and comfortable. Most important to Tannis was her love and support for her family – in whatever interests or directions they pursued.

Celebration of Life Service and Interment: July 29, 12:00 noon, at York Funeral Centre and Cemetery.

To honour Tannis’ giving nature, the family kindly asks that you consider donating to the Aphasia Institute (aphasia.ca) which is dedicated to helping people with speech challenges due to brain damage and an organization very dear to Tannis’ heart, or to the University Health Network Foundation (uhnfoundation.ca) in recognition of the care provided to Tannis over the last several years by the teams at Princess Margaret and Toronto General Hospitals.
