Stephen Shiu
September 14, 1944 - September 8, 2014
STEPHEN (CHO-CHING) SHIU, September 14-1944-September 8, 2014.
Stephen passed away suddenly. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years- Kit-Ling (Kitty), Sister-Cecilia Ip, Brother in Law-Tony Ip, God-Daughters-Amanda Estrada, Lillian Chan, and Mary Zhang.
Stephen immigrated to Canada from China in 1966 with nothing except hope and dreams. Through his tireless efforts he managed to build Shiu & Associates Inc., out of which flourished many other successful business ventures. His prominence within the construction industry is to be admired. His years of contribution in both his professional and personal life have left an indelible mark upon all those who knew and worked with him during his almost 50 years in the industry. Besides being a savvy businessman, he had a softer side which involved his love of music, entertaining friends and family and enjoying the finer things in life. Stephen was a fighter; he battled against many health issues and obstacles and never gave up hope. His perseverance and strength were unparalleled.
A Memorial Service will be held at York Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, ON M2N 5Z5 on Sunday September 14. Visitation will be at 9:00am and Ceremony and burial at 10:00am. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.ca), York Central Hospital Dialysis Unit, or St. Michael’s Hospital Transplant Unit.
