Stephen John Traynor
September 23, 1942 - November 25, 2024
It is with great sorrow we announce, after a six year battle with cancer which became increasingly cruel over his last two months, Stephen John Traynor passed away on November 25, 2024, in his 83rd year. Proceeded by his parents Edward and Nan, and his older brother Peter. Survived by his wife of 57 years Loretta, his sons Neil(Heather), Mark, and Paul(Jennifer), and his grandchildren Benjamin and Charlotte.
Born and raised in Toronto, he was such an excellent swimmer in his youth that he became a lifeguard at the age of 14, when the legally required age was 16. It was through his work as a lifeguard that he met his future wife Loretta. A lover of music his whole life, he was also an excellent guitarist in his youth who could have easily become a professional musician. A graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute with a degree in Business Administration, he became a salesman and later sales manager, selling pharmaceuticals, later hospital products, at several of the top companies in the industries, winning multiple awards for his salesmanship. In his later years he worked for the Ontario Superior Court. He was a keen and passionate car enthusiast, with an encyclopedic knowledge of automotive mechanics and history. Driving his prized Corvette was one of the great joys of his life. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he worked hard his whole life to provide everything he could for his family, always putting them before himself. His sons all looked up to him, and relied on his vast knowledge on an array of different subject to guide them their whole lives. He fought bravely through his cancer diagnosis, surgeries and treatments. Our tremendous grief at his loss is tempered by the knowledge that he's no longer in pain. He was a true gentleman, admired and respected by all who knew him. He will be forever deeply missed by his family and friends. He lives on in his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren - our love for him will never die.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Stephen's name to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
