Stanley John Saniga
July 15, 1928 - February 1, 2015
Stanley John Saniga
An incredible man with a remarkable spirit who passed away in his 87th year, peacefully Sunday Feb. 1, 2015, with his loving wife and granddaughter by his side. Stanley John was the living embodiment of unconditional love and an inspiration to those fortunate enough to make his acquaintance. Retired QCC Member from the Ministry of Transportation, Stanley John was a nature and wildlife enthusiast, who relished his “long” summer cottage getaways. There he enjoyed late afternoon swims, games of cribbage where he toyed with his competition (Stan “the Man” will always remain the residing Champion), canoeing and boating, all the while surrounded by family and friends. Stan was a humble artist and will fondly be remembered by many for his exquisitely hand drawn caricature celebration cards, the prize possession of anyone retiring at the MTO during his residency. He also had a passion for Photography and captured many special moments, both still and video, which will be cherished and enjoyed for years to come. Son of the late John and Mary Saniga, loving brother of Alyce, and his pre-deceased siblings Ludka and Louie. Dearly beloved husband of Rose Marie, loving father to the late Debra Rose Mathe (Richard), adored grandfather of Shannon Stanley (Shane), cherished great grandfather (aka GG) to Jack and the late Savannah Rose. Stan will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family members and devoted friends. Family and Friends may call at Elgin Mills Cemetery – 1591 Elgin Mills Rd. E., Richmond Hill, (east of Leslie St., 905-737-1720) on Tuesday February 10, 2015 from 1 – 2:pm,. A service will be held in the chapel at 2:pm, then followed interment at the Elgin Mills Cemetery. Immediately after the interment a reception to celebrate Stan’s life will be hosted by the family in the Elgin Mills Visitation Centre. As this is a celebration of a remarkable life, it is the family’s wish that those in attendance dress casually and colourfully. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary located in Rosseau, Ontario - www.aspenvalley.ca ; or to St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke - www.stpeterscc.ca
