She had her family at her side.
Sonja was born in Germany and had 6 sisters and 2 brothers. in 1956, at the age of 20, her boyfriend (my dad) convinced her to leave home with him and cross the ocean to Canada. She was an avid gardener both at home, where she was twice awarded first place in the beautiful garden competition, and at their cottage in Muskoka where she moved a lot of rocks to create a stunning terraced garden. She enjoyed every moment she was outside, whether she was swimming, bird watching, driving their boat to take her sons water skiing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, fishing, picking wild blueberries, hiking, helping build their cottage, cycling or raking leaves. If she was outside she was happy!
Sonja always had time for her friends and family and made many trips back to Germany visit and catch up.
