Selina (Yau Nga) Wong was born in the British colony of Hong Kong 19 January 1956.
Her parents were Wong Yun Yue (father) and Chan Yuk Ping (mother).
Selina passed away 15th February 2026. She was pre-deceased by two younger siblings Tony and Elsie (Yau Lai) and is survived by two younger siblings Pak Ling and Danny (Chung On) and two older siblings Miranda and Hok Ling.
Selina emigrated to Canada in the mid-1970s and entered the Canadian educational system at Jarvis Collegiate Institute. From there she gained entry to Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in its Urban Planning program from which she graduated in the early 1980s. Additional degrees were earned at York University, and a graduate degree at the University of Toronto.
Along the way she married Desmond Glynn , a Ryerson history lecturer in 1982. And began raising a family in 1986 with the birth of Niall and in 1990 with the birth of Dylan.
Selina had varied recreational interests, including: vegetable gardening in Toronto’s Tommy Thompson park , traditional opera singing (Scarborough Seniors Cantonese Music Association), perennial camping in Algonquin Park and other Canadian parklands .
But most of all, she loved international travel, visiting over twenty countries abroad, throughout Europe, Australia, IndoChina , Japan, but most of all, her beloved China with its millennia of dynasties and civilizational advance.
Selina experienced an enriched life. She raised a loving family. She enjoyed a lengthy professional career. She cherished her Canadian homeland. She will be missed by the many who called her a friend. Her passing is deeply mourned.
