With great sadness, the family of Sau Ying (Shirley) Young announces she passed away on May 23, 2025, at home in Toronto. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert, and her son, Andrew (Wing Sze). She was predeceased by her mother, Sam Mui, and her father, Wing Chan.

Shirley was born August 3, 1941, in Hong Kong and grew up with six siblings. She worked as a teacher before immigrating to Canada in 1974. In Toronto, she was a homemaker who prioritized her family above all else. Noted for her kindness, she cared for many people throughout her life, including her mother-in-law, Jean (predeceased), her husband and son.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, at 11 a.m., at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre; urn entombment to follow at the Toronto Necropolis.
