Tom Yu (B.Eng., National Taiwan University, M.Eng., McGill University, M.Div., Tyndale Seminary) was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China. His journey to Canada involved living in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Montreal. He became a born-again Christian 40 years ago and was baptized at the Montreal Chinese Alliance Church. He later received God's calling and was equipped at Tyndale Seminary.

From 2009-2020, he served as a church planter at the Richmond Hill Christian Community Church (RHCCC), and was the Lead Pastor of Vaughan Christian Community Church (VCCC). He learned much about church planting from Dr. John Worcester. He was grateful to the pastors and deacons at RHCCC and co-workers at VCCC for their love and support and he valued the mentoring and the opportunity to be equipped as a servant leader.

Since retirement Tom has focused on nurturing his family, including grandchildren, while battling complications of liver disease. Pastor Tom is survived by his wife, Wei-Wei, in Richmond Hill, as well as three children and six grandchildren.
