Sampath Kumar Voora
May 4, 1938 - May 9, 2015
It is with our deepest sympathies that we announce the passing of Sampath Kumar Voora on Saturday May 9th, 2015 at 10:20 pm in Montreal.
He was born in Chennai (India) on May 4th 1938 and was the son of late Jagannadham Chetty Voora and Komalamma Voora. He immigrated to Canada in 1961 and worked most of his life as a teacher in chemistry, physics and mathematics at the college level from 1968 to 1998 in Toronto and Burlington (Ontario).
During his retirement he acted as the President of the Telugu Cultural Association (Toronto), the Hindu Temple Society of Canada, the Telugu Senior Society of Canada as well as the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Alumni and Panorama India (Toronto).
He was the loving and caring husband of Madeleine (Rivest), father of Komala (Michael), Vivek Anand (Noémi), Jagan Nath (Constance) and Vidya (Abdelkbir), and grandfather of Luca Narayan and Laila. He also leaves behind his nephew Sudhakar (Sulekha, Sumithra and Sudhish), his brother-in-law Jagannadham (and family) in Canada, as well as his other family members and friends located in various parts of the world.
