Salvatore (Sam) Marinucci, 72, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on January 2, 2026.

Sam was a legend to those who knew him – exceptionally smart, quietly kind, and brilliantly witty, with a mind attuned to everything and a voice that chose its words with care. His professional excellence and dedication were recognized when he was named a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, the highest distinction conferred upon its members.

Sam cared deeply about his family and friends, took great pleasure in good food and good wine, and never missed his favourite section of the newspaper – the obituaries. He delighted in returning to Italy each year – the quiet contentment of sitting on sun-warmed benches, observing the small, beautiful movements of daily life.

Music was a constant companion to him, listened to attentively and with deep appreciation. His thoughtfulness extended even to the smallest details, including a remarkable knack for choosing the perfect greeting card. He loved sports and, despite being a terrible golfer, took lasting pleasure in recalling (and announcing) his hole-in-one.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Guerino and Anna Maria Marinucci, who shaped the values he carried throughout his life. He is survived by his anima gemella, Rosanna; daughter, Alexandra; brother, Giovanni; sister-in-law, Sarah; nephews Michael (Nicole, Jack, and Max) and Santino (Samantha); and nieces Jenna (Michael and Chloe), Tianna, and Violet – all of whom were endlessly entertained, inspired, and loved by him.

Sam will be deeply missed. He would no doubt have noted, perhaps with a wry smile, his appearance in the newspaper section he read most closely.
