After a courageous three and a half year battle with cancer, Rumana Haque (Urmi) passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Toronto. She left this world in her sleep during Fajr, holding her husband’s hand, in the comfort of her own bed, surrounded by love until the very end. She is survived by her loving husband - Faruqe, her brother - Topu, and her niece - Sreyashi.
Urmi was a rare and beautiful soul. Kind, gentle, and soft spoken, she carried a quiet grace and warmth that made everyone feel welcome. She had a natural gift for staying connected, keeping family and friends close across distances with care, thoughtfulness, and love.
She found joy in life’s simple moments. She loved travel, long conversations, shared meals, art, and the beauty of the world around her. She had a deep appreciation for culture and creativity, and a way of noticing and sharing the small things that made life meaningful.
She was deeply devoted to her husband, her parents, her brother, and her extended family. She shared a deep and special bond with her niece, cousins, khalas, and mama, and her love for them was constant and heartfelt. She touched many lives with her kindness, sincerity, and gentle spirit.
Urmi will be deeply missed and will live on in our memories forever.
