Rudolf Heinz Kretschmann
June 21, 1937 - February 7, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rudolf (Rudi) Heinz Kretschmann. Devoted husband of over 55 years to Lotte. Father to Astrid (Shane), Diane (Andrew) and Elke (Eliot).
Opa to Aidan, Matthias, Maya, Derek, David, Richard and Rachel.
Brother to Erich, Horst, Guenter, Ingrid and Ernst. Uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany.
Rudi began his career in the military later moving on to civilian life.
A quiet, gentle man he was an avid reader, model train enthusiast, and loved music.
He also enjoyed his garden taking great pride in his roses; amusing himself with the antics of the various birds who would visit and sitting outside late into a summer's night. He also walked everywhere.
A child during WW2, he suffered many hardships but eventually found happiness in the life and family he built in Canada.
We will feel his absence deeply but know with certainty that we will be reunited once again.
Joshua 24:14-15
Choose Whom You Will Serve
14 “Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation and North York General Hospital.
