It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rong Xin Li, beloved husband of Xiu Hui and cherished father of Wendie, Lindie and David. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026 in Richmond Hill, ON.

Rong Xin was born in Taishan, Guangdong province in China. Following his parents' footsteps, he became a high school math and music teacher for over 20 years. He felt so much pride and joy when he witnessed academic successes from his students. In 1983, with the help of his older sister May and brother-in-law Don Ng, Rong Xin immigrated to Canada along with his family. After arriving in Canada, he worked as a chef at Hoo Wah Gardens restaurant and developed a new interest in culinary.

Rong Xin exemplified the true meaning of resilience as he survived a serious and life altering stroke in the spring of 2014. Despite living with complications from the stroke, his dedication towards contributing to the success of his family combined with his love for music and interest in investments gave him purpose to live life to the fullest each day.

Rong Xin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Xiu Hui, his daughters Wendie (King), Lindie (Tom) and son David, three grandchildren Jaden, Kaylee and Brandon, brother, Rong Bo, sister, Mei Juan, and extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank all the dedicated doctors, nurses and medical staff for the support Rong Xin received since his stroke. In addition, a special thank you to Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital for the attentive care over the past few years.
