Ronald Stewart

October 6, 1928 ~ November 6, 2013

Ron’s journey here on earth ended peacefully on Wednesday evening at home, with his family all around him.

After a difficult 5 years of dealing with Parkinson’s disease, he is at peace. Ron was a loving husband to Therese (nee Bouchier). Their incredible journey together lasted more than 65 years. He was a dear father to Mary Ann (Eric), Brenda, Elaine (Milano), Carol (Mike), Raymond (Jennifer) and Peter (Tracey). He was a loving Grampa to Kate, Nicole, Megan, Julianna, Christopher, Ron and Alexia. Ron was born in Toronto to John and Catherine in 1928. He was the 3rd child of 5. He is predeceased by his parents and all his brothers Jack, Ken, and Roy. He leaves behind his loving sister Kathleen.

Ron began working at Christie’s in 1944 and from then on and forever more he was a “Bread Man”. It saddened him greatly to retire at age 63 but then he started his new career, caring for his grandchildren. He began with Kate as it was only in his arms that she would sleep. Over the years he took care of each of his grandchildren. He learned to play “Barbies”, store and school. He walked so many strollers around the block and to the park that everyone in the neighbourhood knew him.

Ron was also a staunch Toronto Maple Leafs fan. The family TV was always dedicated to “Hockey Night In Canada”. He never missed a game. Sunday nights he listened on his transistor radio to Foster Hewitt broadcast those away games. In recent years Leaf Hockey was all he watched on TV.

Ron will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed tremendously.
