Ron attended Gordon Graydon High School (Mississauga) and went on to graduate from York University (1969) then from the Toronto Teachers’ College. He followed the career he loved, making a difference in the lives of his students while teaching at Hillcrest Public School (Mississauga) for many years.
After retirement, Ron was actively involved at the Peregrine Co-op in Toronto where he lived. The friends he made there were very special to him. A loving and caring son, brother, uncle and friend Ron loved Blue Jays games with family & friends, his trips to California to dog-sit for sister Joy, or to animal-sit for any one for that matter, wherever they lived! He shared fond memories of his camping trips to Bass Lake with friends Harry & Linda. Ron was an expert handyman, always available to his family & friends for those jobs nobody else would want to handle. Ron is survived by sisters Judy (Wayne), Christina (Rick), Wendy (George), Susan and Joy (Garry). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their children: Aaron & Claire (Brianna & Caleb), Suzanne & Cam (Ailish), Laura & Victor (Seth, Emma & Ben), David & Kim, Jordan & Mary, Myles & Erica, Rachel & friend Tyler, Chase, Nicole and Justin. We will miss you, Uncle Ronnie. Heartfelt thanks from the family to the Doctors who helped Ron through his short illness and to his longtime friend Tom for his strong support to Ron and the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund, The Sick Kids Foundation, or Make a Wish Foundation. A private cremation has taken place. On Saturday June 29, 2013 there will be a memorial service & celebration of Ron’s life between 11-1 PM at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre.
