After more than a century of life we sadly announce the passing of Anne Amelia (nee D’Orazio), Cuddy, Rico, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and so very cherished member of the D’Orazio/Cuddy family, who departed on Tuesday Aug 5th, 2025, at the age of 104. She had almost made it to 105.
At last, she returns to her parents Vito Nicola D’Orazio and Maria Carmela Di Nenno, as well as her cherished siblings; Mary (Tom), Bill (Grace), Betty (Roy), Armand (Irene), Guido (Rose), Jean (Paul). In addition, she reunites with her eldest children George Cuddy, Jo Anne Adams and her granddaughter Samantha Cuddy.
Born on November 2, 1920, Anne spent her life in Toronto, where she always had a profound love of family. As a young person, Anne was known for her kindness, generosity, determination, family loyalty, and inquisitiveness; qualities that would define her life and endear her to all. In her most recent years when she was unable to travel, or use the telephone, she loved to hear from her dear granddaughter Sheryl, nieces, Michele and Raylene, her nephew Philip. She was visited often and greatly supported by her grandchildren Jason, Eythan and Michelle. She held these very close to her heart.
Beyond work, Anne dedicated her life to family which brought joy and much support to their lives and to those around them. She was known for her amazing brisket, pumpkin pies, pastries and most of all her pizzelles.
Anne was a devoted wife, parent, and sibling; always putting family first and ensuring that loved ones felt cherished and supported. Home was a place of warmth and laughter, where family and friends were always welcome. She is survived by children Bill and Mary Jean, rejoining the late George and Jo Anne.
Once Becoming widowed, without formal education and in need of work, Anne eventually became a successful caterer, known for her unwavering commitment to excellence and her passion for service to others. She met many dignitaries over the course of her career including HRH Prince Philip, who sent her a personal note of appreciation.
Anne's legacy is one of love, compassion, and dedication. Her life touched so many, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. As we gather to remember Anne, we celebrate the incredible person she was and the profound impact she had on our lives.
