Richard Ojars Pavars
July 28, 1971 - January 2, 2015
In his 43rd year, Rick passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2nd after a battle with cancer, surrounded by family at Dorothy Lea Hospice in Mississauga.
Only child of Vineta and Ojars (predeceased 2006), he will be lovingly remembered as a “wonderful son” who cared greatly for his family.
He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by family including cousin Ed (Krista) & Eduards Jr. Valtenbergs, cousin Erica (Pat) & Sandra and Kimberley Kirby, along with 2nd cousins Andris Golts, Ingrid Cain and mother Biruta.
Rick was also predeceased by uncles and aunts, Eduards & Ausma Valtenbergs and John & May Pavars, along with grandparents Ernests & Emily Elms and Janis & Vilma Pavars.
Rick was proud of his Latvian heritage and could often be seen at many Latvian social events. He was employed by the Latvian newspaper at the Toronto Latvian Centre and was also a proud member of the Latvian “Patria” Fraternity.
His passion was cars and he regularly attended Auto shows and kept up to date with the latest automobiles. He also enjoyed spending summer time with family at Lake Simcoe. Rick had a big heart which was only surpassed by his appetite for which he can be remembered thoroughly enjoying meals at family gatherings.
Services will take place on Wednesday, January 7th at York Funeral Home, 160 Beecroft Road, North York. Visitation will take place from 12 – 1 pm, followed by Funeral service and burial at York Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the St. Andrews Ev. Luth. Latvian Church or Latvian Centre in Toronto.
