It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Hum.

He passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Sunnybrook Hospital on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the age of 71.

Richard was born in Hong Kong on June 3, 1954. He immigrated to Canada in his teenage years, graduated from Montreal high school and Vanier College before moving to Toronto where he started his career as an accomplished consultant engineer.

He was a loving and selfless husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his time and energy to his family above all else. Beyond his career, Richard was a jack of all trades — masterful in the kitchen, the reliable and dependable fixer around the house, and had a passion for music and photography.

His greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Grace; his brother, Eddie; his children, Justin, Ryan, Aaron, and Brandon; and his cherished grandchildren, Logan, Chloe, and Benett. His love, wisdom, and quiet strength will remain with them always.

His generosity and kindness was extended and felt by everyone whom he encountered. Richard will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
