<div itemprop="description">After 93 wonderful years, Dick Boxer passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2012 surrounded by his family.&nbsp; Predeceased by his treasured wife Nancy and&nbsp;beloved father (and father-in-law) of Richard (Joan Boxer), Shelagh (Christopher Taylor) and Jeffrey (Nancy Flanders).&nbsp; Adored grandfather of Sarah, John and Todd Boxer, and Ryan, Patrick and Jeffrey Taylor.&nbsp; Dick will also be dearly missed by his brother Don Boxer (Marian), sister-in-law Gina Lamb (Bill) and his caregiver Mila Villote who has been a valued member of the Boxer family for the last nine years.&nbsp; <br /> <br /> As a husband and father,&nbsp;friend, sportsman, businessman and philanthropist, he worked from a strong moral compass and will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.&nbsp; Born in 1918 in Toronto, Dick attended the University of Toronto Schools and then like so many of his generation, joined the Navy so that he could be a contributor to Canada's war effort.&nbsp; After his return from war, Dick went into the wallpaper business where his&nbsp;career spanned 40 years -&nbsp;the last 30 of which were at Waldec of Canada, the firm he co-founded with Tom Staunton and Joachim Dahlke.&nbsp;&nbsp; Dick's real contributions however, were outside the world of business.&nbsp; His energy and leadership benefited so many varied organizations including&nbsp;The Navy League of Canada, Regent Park Health Centre, The Order of St. Lazarus, The Fort York Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, The Muskoka Lakes Association, Harcourt Lodge, Lyndhurst Hospital and numerous churches.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br /> <br /> An example to all of us, Dick knew how to live life to the fullest.&nbsp; Warm, gracious, and a skilful and humourous raconteur, Dick always had a kind word to say about everyone.&nbsp; Thoughtful and charitable, he was a quintessential Christian as his church and his faith&nbsp;played and important role in his life.&nbsp; Dick was always there to support his family. <br /> <br /> The family is holding a service of remembrance to celebrate Dick's life at Grace Church On The Hill on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m.&nbsp; (please see details below). <br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour his life may send a donation to the Evangelical Medical Aid Society (please see link on Donations tab above). <br /> <br /> Condolences may be shared on the Guestbook page.&nbsp; Photos and life stories are also welcome. <br /> <br /> Dick's video biography, a wonderful tribute to his life, can be viewed&nbsp;on the videos&nbsp;page.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <strong> &quot;Tell everyone that I had a very blessed life.&quot; <br /> </strong> <br /> </div>
