The family of Richard Hoyt Dameron is saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, June 25. Richard died peacefully in Toronto at the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Long-Term Care Facility. Richard was 92 at the time of death
Richard was born, November 9, 1932, in Toronto and spent most of his life in Toronto although he did live in the United States for a period of time in the 1970’s and early 1980’s
Richard leaves behind him a wonderful legacy of love and caring including an extended family who was devoted to him. His Dameron family, including his two children, Bob and Sandra and their six children and now, three great grandchildren, loved Grandpa dearly & brightened his life when around. His Somers/Bridger family included two immediate children, Julie and David, their respective families of four grandchildren, and one great grandson, who were also enriched for having spent time with him.
Richard leaves behind the love of his life and spouse of 47 years, Ruth Dameron. They were devoted to one another and enjoyed many happy years together in Toronto, boating and fishing in Georgian Bay, attending live theatre and Blue Jay games and traveling throughout North America and The Caribbean.
Richard’s greatest legacy will be the love he provided to his grandchildren. He spent many hours with them, nurturing their growth from Day 1 to their adult years. His caring and time commitment with his grandchildren was filled with humility and love.
Services for Richard will be held at York Cemetery on Friday, July 11 at 11:00 am. There will be a Reception at the Funeral Centre followed by a brief, graveside remembrance.
