It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dick Thompson on Sunday May 31st at the age of 86. He died peacefully at the Ian Anderson House surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Catherine Thompson. Loving brother of Eleanor Shepherd. Father of Susan Thompson (Ken), Joanne Thompson (Ross), Michelle Twining (Dean), Nichole Cole (Peter) and John Twining. Grandfather of nine, Great-grandfather to four. Let us not forget his many nieces and nephews and their families in Canada and Western Australia.
Richard was born on August 21st 1928 in London England. His early education was at the Christian Brother’s school in Jersey in the Channel Islands. After his service in the British army and government related work, he was employed by Prudential of England. At the request of Prudential, he immigrated to Montreal in 1956. He remained in the insurance industry for his entire career working with Equitable Life, the Citadel Assurance and finally being self-employed in his own insurance agency. He was well respected and made many friends in the industry. Please join us in saying goodbye to Dick and celebrating his life on Saturday June 6, 2015 at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, Mississauga (1535 South Gateway Road). Visitation from 3 until 4 pm followed by service and reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ian Anderson House would be gratefully appreciated.
