Renate passed away peacefully in the Scarborough General Hospital after a lengthy illness – COPD – on the evening of June 14, 2015 at the age of 85 years. She was the beloved wife of Willy Kohler for 60 years and dear mother of Bernie (Lynda) and Derek (Grace). Grandmother (Oma) of Ryan, Bradley, Mark, Katelyn and Carolyn. Sister-in-law to Zenta (Markus) Wetzler. Their nieces Lissi and Renate, with families in Germany. Aunt of Renate (Doug) Sharkey, Alfred (Randa) Vogel and Barbara (Mike) Vogel of Vancouver, BC. A Memorial Service to commemorate Renate’s life will be held on Monday, June 22nd at 1 p.m., with visitation an hour prior at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229). A private cremation has been arranged and in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Lung Association.
