It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Amos Randall Jeffery, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left this world on December 30, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on July 30, 1934, in Kemptville, Nova Scotia, Randall's journey began in a quaint town that would shape his strong work ethic and care for others.
In 1954, he relocated to Oshawa, Ontario, where he dedicated his life to his family and community. He was the son of John and Dorcas Jeffery, and is predeceased by his siblings, Jean Prosser, Phyllis Walsh, and Wayne Jeffery. He is survived by his devoted sister, Ruth Poole.
Randall cherished his marriage to Mary Jeffery for an incredible 69 years. Together, they raised a loving family, including their son Craig Jeffery and his wife Roberta, along with their grandchildren Tyler (Venny), Chelsea, and Tiffany. Their son Brent Jeffery and his wife Julie blessed Randall with grandsons Ryan (Dani), Kyle (Roxanne), Tyson (Robyn), and Bryden. Their daughter Lorie Hartshorn and her husband Dean carried on the family legacy with grandsons Justin (Veronica), Curtis (Sylvia), and granddaughter Shannon (Aaron). Lastly, their daughter Crystal Fontaine and her husband Ed brought joy with grandsons Dallas (Rachel), Denver (Kendal), and Brett.
Randall was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, including Joseph, Juniper (Tyler); Harrison (Tiffany); Patrick, Preston, and Isla (Ryan); Penny, Eloise, and Patrick (Kyle); Olivia, George, Harper, and Donald (Tyson); Charlotte and Magnolia (Justin); Naomi, Gabriel, and Abigail (Curtis); and Alivia, Maverick, Austin, and Rosie, as well as Baker and Briley (Denver).
Known affectionately as Randy in Ontario, he was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, serving as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Oshawa and leading the building of Calvary’s Ritson Road location. His commitment to faith extended to his roles as a Sunday school teacher and leader of the Christian Service Brigade, where he touched the lives of many.
The cottage, boating, hunting and conversations with others brought him joy.
Randall was a respected businessman establishing A. R. Jeffery Construction, building homes across the Durham Region and later, Jeffery Plazas which continues today. He exemplified love for God, family, and community, leaving a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Randall will be deeply missed but remembered with love. He is now living his best life in heaven with his Lord, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
