Pyar Dossal
January 28, 1927 - June 3, 2014
Dossal, Pyar, FIA, FCIA, ASA
Passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2014 at age 87, after much recent illness. Dearly loved husband and devoted companion of 61 years to Joyce, adored father of Linda and Carolyn, beloved father-in-law of Michael and Graham, and doting Grandad to Adam, Madeleine, Jennifer and Jonathan.
Pyar was the first Muslim born in India to qualify as an actuary. An avid cricket, tennis and badminton player in his youth, a music lover, and, in his later years, a stalwart, dedicated Liberal and Sudoku wizard, he also gave generously of his time to Amnesty International and Sunnybrook Hospital.
A gentle, gracious and devoted family man, Pyar was relied upon and respected for his insight and wisdom. He inspired those around him to strive to do their best and to do the right thing. We were so fortunate to have had him in our lives for so many years.
We will miss his sweet smile and unfailing love.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Amnesty International at www.amnestygift.ca or Doctors without Borders at www.doctorswithoutborders.org would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery – Visitation Centre on Sunday, June 8th, 2-5pm. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the same location on Monday, June 9th, 3-5pm.
