With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Pui Lai Ho, 73, who died peacefully at Toronto General Hospital on December 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 17, 1952 Pui Lai built a life defined by devotion, hard work, and quiet strength. For the past 32 years, he made his home in Scarborough, Ontario, where he was known as a skilled carpenter—steady, meticulous, and proud of the work he painstakingly crafted with his hands.

Before coming to Canada, Pui Lai had a remarkable career in Hong Kong as a construction foreman, contributing to major projects and restorations that helped shape the city, including MTR, the Court of Appeal, Ocean Park, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He took pride in doing things properly and thoroughly, and he carried that same standard into everything he did.

Above all else, his family was his life. Pui Lai dedicated himself completely to the people he loved. Whether through his sacrifice of immigrating halfway across the world for his family’s futures while not speaking a word of English to the way he showed up again and again in the everyday moments that matter most, he made his family feel safe, cared for, and deeply loved.

He also found joy in the simple pleasures—especially watching his prized Manchester City play in the Premier Leagues, sometimes on his own, often with friends—enjoying the game, the camaraderie, and the routine of it.

Pui Lai is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Kit Ping Yu, and their daughters Carmen (Alvin Law) and Jenny (Christopher Tassone). He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.

A service to honour Pui Lai Ho’s life will be held on January 10 at 9:00 a.m. at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre.
