Phu Huynh, 94, was a beloved husband, brother, friend, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2026 surrounded by his entire family. Phu’s life was a testament to love and resilience.
Born and raised in Can Tho, Vietnam, he was a natural entrepreneur. His first business was the partnership of a small movie theatre. It was at that theatre where he met his wife, Khanh Phan, while selling her a ticket. After they married, he sold his share of the theatre to start his own business in sand and stone delivery for road construction.
In 1979, amidst the aftermath of war, Phu made the difficult choice to remain in Vietnam with his two youngest daughters while the rest of the family sought refuge abroad. In 1981, they were finally reunited in Owen Sound, Canada, where they began a new chapter defined by family and hard work.
Phu's favourite car was a 1972 BMW Bavaria that he bought with his son Vinh in Canada. He also rescued a 70s Toyota Corolla from the junk yard and restored it himself; a feat he took immense pride in. He passed along his love of cars to his eldest son, Vinh. The two spent countless hours flipping through car magazines and bonding over technical specifications.
Phu found joy in the warmth of a good cup of coffee, the art of storytelling, and the lively spirit of family dinners. His dedication to family was most evident in his quiet actions. Even in his 80s, his energy never wavered when it came to his family’s care. When his daughter, Nga, fell ill, he became her constant support—driving her to countless appointments and ensuring his granddaughters were safely dropped off and picked up from school, always with a quiet, reassuring presence.
He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and selfless service—a gift his family will always cherish and carry forward every day. Phu is survived by his loving wife, Khanh Phan, their seven children, My Lan, Vinh, Kien, Tuong, Nga, Khanh, and Van, twelve grandchildren, and great-grandson.
