Phillip Piraine
February 21, 1937 - June 3, 2012
PIRAINE, Phillip –
Passed away in Palliative Care, at Credit Valley Hospital, on Sunday June 3, 2012, with his family by his side. Phil was married to Catherine MacIntyre for forty-four years and raised two children, Grant and Phyllis (Pereira). He remarried after Catherine’s death and was a most loving husband to Rita (nee Legnaro) for 8 years. Phil will be dearly missed by Rita’s daughters, Gail Woodford, Colette Curran and Star Routledge. Phil was a much loved Pappa to his grandchildren William, Christopher, Diego, Elizabeth, Mia, Haley, Cassidy and Stephanie, and beloved father-in-law to Victor, Ellen, Ed, Ray, and John. His sisters Florence (Benn) and Norma mourn the loss of their big brother as do his brother-in-laws, Norman and Lou. He was a special uncle to many and will be sadly missed by his nieces Lynda, Susan, Anne Marie, Lisa, Krista and Melissa, who came to visit with him in his last days. Colleen Gray was a dear friend to Phil since her childhood, and she carries fond memories of times spent together. Our darling Phil will be remembered as an avid handyman. He built bicycles for many children and was the person kids would run to with their broken toys. Phil opened his heart to many relatives needing help to get a leg up in life; his home was referred to as “Hotel Piraine.” Such a loving man, he will be missed by so many people. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 6890 Glen Erin Drive in Mississauga, at 11:00 on Friday June, 8. Those wishing to send words of condolence to the family can do so at http://mountpleasantgroup.permavita.com. Donations to Canadian Blood Services would be most appreciated.
