It is with sadness and gratitude for his life, that the family of Paul David Mack announces his death on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 11, 2026. We give thanks for the precious gift of this extra year, which allowed us to share meaningful time together. We will gather to remember Paul, to give thanks to God for his life, and to find comfort in the Christian hope he knew.
Paul was Jacqui’s beloved. They married on May 19, 1972. Together they raised three sons: Douglas, David, and Craig. Their family grew to include daughters-in-law Christy, Denise, and Anneliese, and grandchildren: Lauren, (Jordan – Lauren’s fiancé), Jacob, Daniel, Clara, Ava, and Emmanuel. Years ago, Sheldon came into their lives; he still holds a special place within the family.
Born in Sydney, Australia, July 1, 1949, Paul’s early years took him through New Zealand and Malaya, before his family settled in London, Ontario.
Paul pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney, Australia, earned his Bachelor of Laws at Western University – where he met Jacqui! – and was called to the Ontario Bar. He subsequently earned a Master of Laws from Osgood Hall Law School. He practiced law in Oshawa for fifty years.
Paul was an avid world traveller, visiting Australia, the United States, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa. His travels reflected his love of history and the joy he took in spending time with family, near and far.
A vibrant Christian faith was central to Paul’s life. It informed how he practiced law and affected his commitment to serving others. This was evident in his involvement with charitable and nonprofit organizations, among them Christian Legal Fellowship. Close to his heart were the ministries of Zion Christian Reformed Church, where he worshipped and served with commitment and passion.
We remember a husband, brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, lawyer, and man of faith.
The family is grateful to the caring and professional medical team at Lakeridge Health Cancer Centre, to the PSWs who came to the house, and to the Marigold Hospice Care Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated for Zion Christian Reformed Church's Charitable Fund, which is used solely to assist those in our city who are marginalized or struggling with homelessness and hardship.
