Griffin, Paul Andrew – Passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on Friday, February 13, 2026, after a brief illness. Paul was born in Toronto on January 3, 1953, to Jack and Muriel (nee Caston) Griffin. A lifelong Torontonian, Paul graduated from North Toronto Collegiate Institute in 1972 and the University of Toronto in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In December 1980, Paul joined the Toronto Police Force starting with the rank of Constable. As one of Toronto’s finest, he served proudly for 33 years with a specialty as a Scene of Crime Officer. Paul will be remembered for his love of Star Trek, science fiction, photography, shortwave radio, Australia and Australian culture and as a lifelong Toronto Maple Leaf's and Toronto Marlies fan. He will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, friends and his faithful German Shepherd K’mpec.
Paul was the beloved husband of Sheila (nee Irvine) for 50 years, loving father to Jennifer Rothschild (David), Diana, James, and Daniel, devoted grandfather to Aiden, Joseph, Brayan, and Luke Richardson, Avital, and Ayalah Rothschild and a dear brother to Susan Van Allen (Richard). He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto. Visitation at 11 am, service at 12:30 pm with interment to follow. The family gives special appreciation to North York General Hospital for their superb care during Paul’s last days.
