Patricia E. Mootoo (née Bhoodram)

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Patricia E. Mootoo, affectionately known as Patsy, on May 30, 2026, after a lengthy illness. She was 76 years old.

Patricia was born on November 22, 1949, in Christianburg, Guyana, to the Bhoodram family. She lived a life defined by love, dedication, and compassion.
Patsy was the beloved wife of Aditya Mootoo, with whom she shared more than 49 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story began in 1968, and together they built a life filled with devotion, friendship, and unwavering support for one another.
She was a cherished sister to Wendy Cheong, Marilyn “Leene” Bourne, Barbara “Chicky” Issardin, Gerald “Ricky” Bhoodram, and Harold “Doody” Bhoodram. She was also a beloved sister-in-law, aunt, and treasured member of the Mootoo and Chinapen families, whose lives she touched with her kindness, wisdom, and generosity.

In 1976, Patricia immigrated to Canada and settled in Montreal. In 1985, she moved to Toronto, where she dedicated many years of her professional life to Social Services. Her work reflected her caring nature and commitment to helping others, and she made a meaningful difference in the lives of many people throughout her career.
Patricia will be remembered for her warm heart, spirit, strength, and deep love for family and friends. She was a source of comfort and guidance to those who knew her, and her presence brought joy to countless lives.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, compassion, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
