I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? I made the light to shed on thee its splendour. Why dost thou veil thyself therefrom?”
— Bahá’u’lláh, The Hidden Words
In Loving Memory of Parvaneh Bostani Arjomand
With deepest love and sorrow, our family announces the peaceful passing of Parvaneh Bostani Arjomand on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the home of her son Shahram and his wife Shahrzad, surrounded by the tender care and devotion of her loved ones. She was 97 years old.
Born on September 26, 1928, in Tehran, Iran, Parvaneh was the eldest daughter in a devoted Bahá’í family. From her earliest years, she displayed a remarkable sense of responsibility, compassion, and grace, caring for her younger siblings with tenderness. Her childhood values of faith, service, and humility became the compass bearings which guided her through life.
At 18, Parvaneh married her beloved husband, Hooshang Arjomand, with whom she shared a beautiful and loving union. Together, they created a home that was not only filled with love, but also became a gathering place where warmth and hospitality were extended to all. Their three children Shahram, Shahed, and Sharareh (Nazy), were raised in an atmosphere enriched with affection, generosity, and the guiding light of Bahá’í principles and virtues.
A consummate hostess, Parvaneh was known for her perfection in creating a welcoming home. Her kitchen was the heart of that home, where she poured her love into every dish she prepared. Her signature cooking, crafted with dedication, artistry, and care, brought delight to family and visitors alike. Guests were nourished not only by the flavours of her delicious dishes, but also by the generosity and kindness with which they were served. Her hospitality was a reflection of her generous and gracious spirit.
In 1972, Parvaneh’s life changed forever with the passing of her husband in London. At only 40 years old, she shouldered the immense responsibility of raising her three children alone. With courage, dignity, and unyielding resolve, she provided for their education and wellbeing, while also managing the family business in Tehran. Her resilience, steady leadership, and quiet strength guided her family through uncertain times, leaving a lasting example of perseverance and devotion.
Though her life was marked by challenges, Parvaneh never wavered in her commitment to her loved ones. She remained a constant source of comfort and support not only to her children, but also to her extended family, friends, and all who sought her counsel. Her generosity of heart and her steadfast faith allowed her to face life’s trials with serenity and grace.
Independent and adventurous, Parvaneh was also an avid traveler who embraced the world with curiosity and openness. She journeyed to many countries, often on her own, believing that travel enriched the spirit and opened the mind to new cultures and ways of life. These experiences reflected her independence, her strength, and her deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms.
Parvaneh was blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. She celebrated their lives and achievements with pride and joy, while providing each of them with unfailing encouragement. To them, and to all who knew her, she was an anchor of love, wisdom, and stability.
Those who knew Parvaneh will remember her humility, elegance, and unwavering principles. She lived her life guided by faith, integrity, compassion, and passed these values onto her children and grandchildren. Her extraordinary ability to unite people, to foster harmony, and to nurture bonds of love will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
Our family will forever honour her memory and celebrate her remarkable life. Parvaneh’s radiant spirit, generosity, and steadfastness, will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Bahá’í Prayer for the Departed:
“O God, my God! Make my heart steadfast in Thy love and grant my soul eternal rest in Thy presence. Shine Thy light upon her and grant her a place in Thy paradise, O Lord of all worlds.”
