Panagiota Stathopoulos

September 27, 1936 - December 22, 2025

It is with profound sadness, I am sharing the news that our beloved mother passed away on December 22, 2025.

While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the beautiful memories she left behind and the knowledge that she is finally at peace.

Panagiota was born in the town Xirokabi, Sparta, Greece. Her parents were Petro and Eleni. Panagiota is survived by her sister Georgia, by her sister-in-law Evangelia, and also many nieces and nephews.

As a young girl, she attended school in Athens. There she acquired her skills to become an excellent seamstress.

In 1959, she came to Canada on her own. Later she was joined by her fiancé to start a new life.

She raised her children Konstantina and Steve, with great joy and love. She was deeply cherished yiayia to her grandchildren Nikki, Stephanie, Terry, and great-grandmother to Basira.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to The Heart & Stroke Foundation in memory of Panagiota.

Yiayia, you represented a pivotal role in my first steps and early upbringing and remained as devoted as you could as the years went on. Without you, I would cease to exist and wouldn’t know the warmth of your cuddles, soft cheeks, foot rubs and delicious warm meals. I find solace in knowing you lived a long life and were able to hold your great granddaughter, Basira. You will undeniably sit in our hearts for an eternity. I trust you and Papou will find each other a second time (give him a tight hug for me). “I love you this much” 🩷
