Olive Elizabeth "Betty" Steele
September 18, 1924 - November 8, 2013
Steele: Olive Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (nee Pretty)
We are deeply saddened by her passing. Betty died peacefully at Shepherd Lodge in her 90th year on Friday, November 8, 2013 with family nearby. Predeceased by her husband Clarence Roy Steele. She is survived by her sons Ken and David, their respective spouses Carol and Deborah, grandchildren James, Jeffrey (wife Mary), Jaqueline, Shannon and Andrew. She also leaves her sister-in-law Chloe, a friend and companion for over 60 years. Betty is lovingly remembered as a devoted and caring person by her family and many others from her early years on ‘The Rock’ and later in Toronto and Newmarket, Ontario. She had a large circle of friends and people who were touched by her kind, unselfish nature. Betty is now reunited with Roy and will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery’s Garden of Remembrance in Toronto. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all at Shepherd Village for their loving care over the past twelve years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Shepherd Village Foundation. (www.shepherdvillage.org/foundation).
“Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one the Chain will link again”
